Ethiopians celebrated Easter (ፋሲካ) in London Amid Mixed Feelings at the Battersea Reese Adbarat St Mary of DebreTsion Ethiopian Orthodox Church. The mixed feelings were caused by the ex-trustees group who complained through its Lawyers and asked the majority members to evacuate the Church at 12:00 am (between 30 April and 01 May 2016) which is too early to complete TSELOTE KIDASE and other services (Prayers).
When the Majority members representatives released a press statement regarding the change of the Easter Church service programme the mood of many people have been changed. Many Church and other Ethiopian community members have also been saddened by this unnecessary and irresponsible actions which can escalate the de-escalated tensions between the two parties. Easter is supposed to be a time of compassion and reconciliation but unfortunately Ethiopians and their friends in London unable to see such good deeds.
However, the TSELOTE KIDASE and other services were provided quite well inside the church within the given time. This video clip shows the services presented by the majority members clergy inside the church and the tension between the two contesting fellow Ethiopian groups before the church was evacuated. Thanks to the area Police who arrived on time and kept peace and order at the gate.
