The Plight of the Persecuted and Endangered Ethiopian Migrants in Egypt
Currently we are receiving a plight from the persecuted and endangered Ethiopian Migrants in Egypt. The situation of Ethiopians who have fled to Egypt because of the repression and harassment in the country is appalling according to the information obtained from the destitute and helpless Ethiopian migrants in Cairo.
The lives of the migrants are saddening because of the restrictions in their movements and lack of protections and basic needs. Even though they apply their situation for the host country and to the UNHCR their cases have never been considered compassionately. The irony is that after they have been persecuted from their own country because of their ethnic background and political opinion they are facing again these divisive and inhuman practices outside their country too.
According to our reliable informants the Human Rights Organisations and the host country favours some OLF oriented Oromo Ethiopians who deny Ethiopia as their country. The whole World knows that the Amharas and other Ethnic groups have also been victimised mercilessly by the existing ethnic based junta TPLF, in Ethiopia.
Human Rights is Human Rights! Categorising the victims across their ethnic lines and favouring one ethnic group over other ethnic group is irresponsible, unjust and unacceptable. We ask the UNHCR and all Human Rights Groups around the World to support all the genuinely persecuted Ethiopians equally without partiality.
We also urge the Ethiopians in Egypt and in all other part of the World to give attention to these helpless persecuted and suffering Ethiopians before they desperately take spontaneous actions or fall into an illegal Human traffickers that will end their lives in disaster. Please stay tuned to get further information about their situations and the type of support they need.
