Saddening News for Ethiopians and the Rest of the World : Iwooket Media is saddened by the death of Professor Richard pankhrust, a distinguished Historian and researcher. Prof. Richard Pankhrust who passed away Yesterday (on 16/02/2017 ) was Ethiopia’s Reference and Best Friend.
Richard Keir Pethick Pankhurst OBE was a British Academic, founding member of the Institute of Ethiopian Studies, and former professor at the University of Addis Ababa in Ethiopia. Professor Pankhrust’s family friendship started in 1930s when his great Human Right activist mother, Sylvia Pankhrust defended Ethiopia against the illegal invasion of Fascist Italy during the Second World War. “A friend in need is a friend indeed”.
professor Richard Pankhrust contributed a lot in writing and documenting the history of Ethiopia and its cultural and traditional Values. He is a well Known credible and respected historian in Ethiopia and will be remembered for generations to come. He has written more than 20 books, research works and many other educative articles for Ethiopians and the outside world.
It is because of Professor Richard Pankhrust’s successful campaign that Ethiopia regained one of its historic Stelae from Italy. The Stelae which was taken by the invading Fascist Army of Italy returned back to Ethiopia and re-erected at Akshum in 2008.
